Google now offers location-based search for the iPhone 3.0
Imagine you are in a city you know nothing about and you feel like going to a Chinese restaurant, while the otherwise helpful hotel receptionist is unable to give you the vital information where the nearest decent place is. In case you own an iPhone, running software version 3.0, you´ve just lucked out - just open Google, set your new location on the start page of the search engine and you´re game, that´s all you need to do to get results based on your current locality. According to Google Mobile Blog, if the function works without a hitch with jazz venues, it should be up to the task when it comes to things like Chinese restaurants as well.
Unfortunately, the location based search is currently available in USA and UK only, but assuming Google will extend their language and country support as fast as they typically do, we can expect an expanded list very soon.
