Google changes name of Nexus 5 launcher; move could signal its availability soon on Google Play Store
Google has updated its Google Search app on Wednesday and this simple move has led to a number of interesting possibilities. First, besides adding the usual bug fixes and performance enhancers to the search app, the update also changes the name of the Nexus 5 launcher to the Google Now launcher. parts of the launcher are found in the Search app and back in November, we told you that the Nexus 5 launcher had a strong connection to Google Search.
If you go to Settings> Home > menu after updating the Search app, you should find the new name of the launcher staring you in the face. And those of you who sideloaded the Nexus 5 launcher on their handset should see a splash screen (image below) after the update.
Does this all mean that the heralded Nexus 5 Google Now launcher will soon be made available to other Android users via the Google Play Store? Stay tuned.
