Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones could be available to pre-order starting October 4
Ausdroid notes that the Pixel phone(s) will be launched on October 20 in Australia. Naturally, we're expecting Google to release at least one of its new handsets at about the same time in other markets.
Both the Google Pixel (allegedly pictured above) and Google Pixel XL are seemingly manufactured by HTC, which returns to making phones for Google after a six year hiatus. As you may know, the now legendary Nexus One from 2010 was made by HTC.
While we're a bit sad to see the Nexus name go away, we're pretty excited about Google's next generation smartphones. How about you?
At the moment, there's no word on the prices of the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL, but the latter will certainly be more expensive than the former. That's because, as its name suggests, the Pixel XL will be larger, sporting a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, instead of the 5-inch 1080p display of the regular Pixel. Nevertheless, the two Pixel phones should share many of their features, including Android 7.1 Nougat, Snapdragon 820 processors, 4 GB of RAM, and 12 MP rear cameras.
