Google Pixel 3 XL vs. Pixel 2 XL: Early design comparison
Thanks to a huge leak from earlier today, we can now take a good look at Google's upcoming Pixel 3 XL smartphone, which is expected to be announced in the last quarter of the year (likely in October).
Similar to previous leaks featuring the unreleased phone, the new one shows a Google Pixel 3 XL that has a pretty big notch at the top of its display. However, overall, the upcoming handset doesn't seem to be too different from its predecessor - the Google Pixel 2 XL (released in October 2017).
According to a report from June, the Google Pixel 3 XL measures 158 x 76.6 x 7.9 mm. If that's true, the new phone is almost unnoticeably taller than the Pixel 2 XL (157.9 x 76.7 x 7.9 mm). With that in mind, we took the liberty of placing a couple of fresh Pixel 3 XL photos next to official images of the Pixel 2 XL.
As you can see below, the notch is the only major design change that the Pixel 3 XL appears to be bringing. But the handset's UI will, most probably, have an option allowing users to hide its notch - when that's enabled, the new Pixel should really look a lot like its predecessor.
Based on these preliminary images, what do you think of the Google Pixel 3 XL?
P.S.: Our comparison is not exactly to scale, but should provide a general idea of what the next-gen Google Pixel XL looks like next to the Pixel 2 XL.
