Google Glass to get an update that helps third party developers write apps for the specs
Third party developers have been unable to easily write apps for Google Glass. But the upcoming XE10 update to the connected specs will give the code jockeys the tools they need to start writing third party Glassware apps for Google Glass. Developers will have access to the sensors and features, and the update is expected some time next month. The update should allow for better games and more functional apps.

With Google Glass expected to hit the big time in 2014, Google wants to make sure that there are enough apps to support the connected specs. We all know what happens to a new mobile device these days, if there is not enough merchandise in the app store. Still, Google Glass is such a different device that it probably could survive a less than fully stocked app store, at least when it is first launched. It really doesn't matter because the XE10 update will probably insure that there will be enough apps for the specs anyway.
