Google Pixel 2/2 XL owners complain about overheating and battery issues after February update

16comments
Back in January, the Android 8.1 update left several Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL owners unable to swipe up on the lock screen so that they could enter their PIN code. Now, it appears as though the February security update also was disseminated with unwanted side effects. On Reddit and Google's Pixel User Community website, there are several complaints from Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL users about their handset overheating. Additionally, since installing the update, some Pixel 2/2 XL owners say that they are experiencing lower than usual battery life on their units.

One Pixel 2 owner says that his model warms up to a temperature as high as 45 degrees celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit). He also figures that his screen on time has been reduced by 30%. Trying to fix this issue with a factory reset was unsuccessful; while turning on the battery saver mode did make some Pixel 2/2 XL units cooler, it did not help with the shortened battery life. Reading the posts put up on Reddit, you can almost feel the frustration coming from Pixel 2/2 XL owners, who have had to endure several issues with their phones since they were launched last year.

If you are having these problems with your Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL, you might have to wait for Google to send out an update containing a fix. So far, we have no indication that Google is aware of the issues, so you might want to drop them an email by clicking on this link.
