Gingerbread set to be both Android 2.3 and Android 2.4?
CES is a gadget-related madness and mistakes happen - but what's better than that, really? Thanks to one such mistake there is a photo of the newly announced Sony Ericsson Xperia arc running Android 2.4, a.k.a. Gingerbread.
If this rumour proves to be true, this 2.3/2.4 situation is not going to be a precedent by any means, since Eclair was both Android 2.0 and 2.1, and we can expect Google to add a handful of new features with the new Gingerbread, as well as slight improvements to its existing ones.
Of course, if Android 2.4 exists it's only a prototype, so it's too early to say what exactly these improvements are going to be, but the new Gingerbread is said to be faster, with an animated screen and it may come with video chat capabilities out of the box.
Obviously, there would be no Gingerbread 2.4 announcement during CES, and this may be a false rumour anyway, but if Android 2.4 is genuine, leaks are sure to happen, so stay tuned.
