Galaxy XCover 3 chassis leaks out - rugged Samsung on a budget

As if to prove that the Galaxy S6 won't be waterproof, or have a more rugged version, a Samsung Galaxy XCover 3 chassis has leaked out, indicating a launch that's not far away from today.

We kid, but Samsung has been outing more extreme versions of its flagships for the last two editions now, dubbed S4 Active and S5 Active, but those have always been quite pricey for the average roughneck out there. The XCover line fills the need for ruggedness on a budget, and the third edition won't be an exception, judging from the leaked specs.

Codenamed SM-G388F, the XCover 3 comes with a lowly Marvell chipset that supports 720p displays, so we wouldn't hold our breath for some screeching fast internals here, but for a phone that's bound to take on some abuse that's actually a good thing.

The new XCover has popped up in the GFXBench database, too, revealing a 4.8" 480x800 pixels display, 5 MP rear camera, and 8 GB of internal storage. The exact pricing scheme and release date are yet to be unveiled by Samsung, but given how ready for launch this one seems, we shouldn't have to wait much longer.
