Galaxy P30 and Galaxy P30+ could be Samsung's first phones with an in-display fingerprint scanner
The Samsung Galaxy S10 is the tenth anniversary model of the manufacturer's flagship phone. So you would think that it would be the first Samsung handset to carry a triple camera setup on the back, right? Wrong. That distinction belongs to the Samsung Galaxy A7, which was unveiled last week with a rear-facing 24MP primary camera, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and a 5MP camera for depth perception (see image at the top of this article).
But at least the Galaxy S10 will be Samsung's first handset to feature an fingerprint scanner under the display, right? Not according to SamMobile. The latter says that Sammy's new LCD-screened phones that we told you about earlier today, the Samsung Galaxy P30 and Galaxy P30+, could feature the cheaper optical version of an in-display fingerprint scanner. If this is true, the Samsung Galaxy S10 could still be the first to market with the more expensive and accurate ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader.
We could see the Galaxy P30 and P30+ unveiled on October 11th. The Samsung Galaxy S10, originally said to be introduced at CES 2019 in January, will apparently be unwrapped at MWC 2019 in February. The foldable Samsung Galaxy X could greet the light of day for the first time at CES 2019 in Las Vegas.
