From now through July 7th, Motorola has a deal for you on the second-generation Motorola Moto X. Buy the handset from the Moto Maker website and the generous, jolly gang at Motorola will give you a free red leather back. Imagine all of the jealous stares you will receive as you walk down the street with your leather clad Moto X.
To take advantage of Motorola's largesse, you will have to customize the Moto X you're building. Make sure you select the red leather back option before you put the phone in the cart. While checking out, the discount (which comes out to $25) is applied.
Motorola apparently is looking to get rid of second-gen Moto X inventory before the third-generation model is unveiled. Judging from the number of leaks we've seen recently, the next iteration of the Moto X could see the light of day fairly soon. Rumors have two variants of the handset on the way. One sports a 5.7-inch glass, and the other a 5.2-inch screen. Both will feature a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution. Early reports say that only Verizon has shown interest in the larger model. Initially, it seemed that the phone would be powered by the Snapdragon 808 SoC. Now, it appears that the Snapdragon 810 will be under the hood instead. The back and front camera combo could weigh in at 16MP/5MP, and a 3280mAh battery is expected inside. Android 5.1.1 is said to be pre-installed.
According to Motorola president Rick Osterloh, the model could be released in August or September which means that we could see further price cuts and deals as we get closer to the release of the next-gen Moto X.
Until July 7th, order the second-gen Motorola Moto X from the Moto Maker and get a free red leather back
