Fresh information about the HTC 'Sailfish' Nexus phone surfaces
Earlier this year, you could have knocked us down with a feather when the rumors started surfacing that HTC would be responsible for as many as two Nexus handsets in 2016. Sure, HTC does have some history with stock Android devices having manufactured the very first Nexus handset aptly named the Nexus One. And the Nexus 9 is an HTC built tablet.
Today's leak reveals modest specs for a device code named 'Sailfish,' which would seemingly appear to replace the Nexus 5X in the Nexus lineup. The phone features a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920. A quad-core 2.0GHz CPU is under the hood with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage inside. The camera combo from back to front weighs in at 12MP/8MP, and there is a fingerprint scanner found on the back of the unit. A 2770mAh battery powers the phone, and a Type-C USB port is aboard. The handset has support for Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. A 3.5mm earphone jack is found on the top of the unit, with a speaker on the bottom.

Besides the Sailfish, speculation calls for a second HTC built Nexus phone this year, carrying a 5.5-inch screen. Code named "Marlin," this Nexus model will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 821 SoC.
