Foxconn says relationship with Apple to only grow under new CEO
Foxconn, the Chinese parts supplier well known for assembling the iPhone and the iPad, is probably the one company most closely tied with Apple. As Cupertino’s shares tumbled over 7% in after-hours trading, Foxconn stock also slipped nearly 2.5% in Taipei, but the company reassured the public that its relationship with Apple will only grow under new CEO Tim Cook.
"We think Tim Cook has shown good work as stand-in CEO during Jobs' absences, and expect Apple will perform well in the future," Hon Hai Precision Industry, Foxconn's flagship said in an email for SFGate.
"The relationship between Cook and Foxconn has been very close and we expect that the relationship will become even closer in future," the company added. "We wish Steve Jobs will get well."
Foxconn has just recently unveiled a massive investment plan aiming to bring a million robots to its factories in three years. The company currently only has 10,000 and expects that number to surge to 300,000 over the next year.
