Foxconn planning new iPhone factory, will it be building a CDMA version?
According to the Xinhua news agency, contract manufacturer Foxconn is expanding by building another iPhone factory. Construction is expected to start later this month and the building will end up housing the more than 500 workers who are building iPhones on a rented assembly line. The reason for the seemingly sudden announcement has to do with the incredibly hot start that the iPhone 4 has had. Even without ending its exclusivity accord with AT&T, this version of the iPhone is on the way to setting sales records, despite the "death-grip" and "Antennagate".
A long time rumor that we reported on starting in February and last touched on in June, is back in play now, as this month contract manufacturer Pegatron is supposedly building a CDMA version of Apple's touchscreen device for Verizon, Sprint, China Telecom and other CDMA flavored carriers. An expected T-Mobile model could develop with a second GSM version.
