Fossil announces three new hybrid watch models
Fossil is aggressively expanding its hybrid watches lineup this year. The devices, that look like regular mechanical watches, but pack some smart features, appear to be popular among consumers if we judge by the rate at which Fossil rolls them out. The company has even moved its mechanical watches section below that of hybrids on its website's home page.
At Baselworld 2016, one of the biggest watch and jewelry expos, Fossil announced three new hybrid models – Diesel, Kate Spade and Emporio Armani. Other than the design, the three models have little difference. All of them are compatible with Android and iOS, with dedicated apps for each model. They all have three buttons on the side for controlling the watch's smart functions, and they use the same coin cell battery that would last for about six months.
Pricing for the Diesel and Armani watches has yet to be revealed, but the Kate Spade hybrid will cost $250. It will be sold on Kate Spade's website and at select retailers between the end of 2016 and early 2017.
All three of the watches have different color variations. The Kate Spade one comes in rose gold, silver or gold, with black, grey or pink leather strap, respectively. All variations of the Diesel model feature stainless steel case with different leather strap colors, and the Emporio Armani hybrid will have several metal and leather variations of its band.
