First camera samples from the 12MP Exmor R sensor in the Sony Xperia S appear
The Asian presentation of the Sony Xperia S just finished, and bloggers there had a chance to shoot a few impromptu snaps with the 12MP Exmor R camera sensor, as well as capture some video.
The results are not that impressive, with the image getting quite noisy when the light goes down, but we don't know if what they were given for a hands-on trial is a final version.
The same 12MP sensor is also found on the Sony Xperia ion, which is bound to appear on AT&T's LTE network soon. We'll be posting our own samples with it shortly, so stay tuned.
The photo data indeed say LT26i, which is the internal name for the Xperia S. There are six samples in total, mostly under indoor, hence not very well lit. conditions, and there is a Panorama shot as well.
Well, our main take from the sample was that the models during the launch event looked stunning, and there is this 1080p video of them with the 12MP Exmor R camera of the Xperia S that proves it below.
The author also shot an HD video with the front-facing camera to demo what your face and surroundings will look like for the person you video chat with.
In fact, about a month ago a video was leaked on YouTube, which claimed to be shot with an Xperia S, and it looked pretty decent - we are embedding the daylight portion of it below for comparison's sake as well. Bear in mind that all samples are probably done with non-finalized Xperia S units, so we are sparing any judgment for our final review unit.
