Dual SIM version of the Sony Xperia Z3+ receives a firmware update
A few days ago, we told you that
firmware updates were certified for both the
Sony Xperia Z3+ and the
Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet. Today, both devices started receiving the new files. Sony Mobile is pushing out firmware version 28.0.A.7.24 for the handset (E6553). That update is being disseminated to units located in Hong Kong and Taiwan where the phone has already been released. Sony also is sending out the update to areas where the phone will launch sometime in the next few weeks such as India, Singapore, Netherlands, Russia, Vietnam and Turkey. In the Ukraine, the dual SIM version of the phone (E6533) is receiving the same update.
In the U.K. only, the phone is receiving a pair of firmware updates (28.0.A.7.24 and 28.0.A.7.27) even though the Xperia Z3+ has not yet been released in the region. While Sony did not publish a changelist for either firmware version, it did say the other day that it was going to
send out an update to help the Xperia Z3+ deal with the overheating issues that have plagued it. The unit is powered by the Snapdragon 810 SoC, which is known to have problems with thermal regulation.
Besides the phone, the Xperia Z4 Tablet (SGP771) is also receiving firmware version 28.0.A.7.24 in both Hong Kong and Taiwan. The slate also features the Snapdragon 810 chipset under the hood, which keeps alive the notion that the firmware update is being sent out in order to help keep the affected devices from becoming too hot to handle.
Thanks for the tip!
