Firefox for iOS? Mozilla now seems in favor of creating such an app
For those who have wanted a version of the Firefox browser on their Apple iPhone, a tweet from Firefox's release manager Lukas Blakk should make you hopeful. The message basically said that Firefox wants to be where its users are, which means producing a version of the browser for iOS. But that has been easier said than done. Third party browsers on iOS have been allowed to operate because they have used Apple’s own JavaScript and rendering engines, or because they have an outside server render the image before sending it to the phone.
Because it wasn't allowed to use its own web engine on iOS devices, Mozilla had stayed away from an iOS version of Firefox. But with a new CEO on board, it seems like the company's position is changing. Besides the Tweet from Blakk, another such missive reveals the strong desire inside Mozilla for an iOS version of Firefox. Posting from an internal Mozilla event held today in Portland, Mozilla's Manager of Data Science, Matthew Ruttley, also tweeted his favorable position on the matter.

Barring an amazing change in Apple's thinking, Firefox will have to run on Apple's technology to gain access to iOS. Perhaps that's the price that Mozilla is now willing to pay, for access to many of its desktop users.
