Final Fantasy Digital Card Game announced for smartphones, beta debuts in January
There are already plenty of Final Fantasy games available to Android and iOS players, but none tackles that card game genre. Well, things are about to change, as Square Enix has just announced the new Final Fantasy Digital Card Game for PC and smartphones.
The developers plan to run a closed beta between January 18 and January 25, but only in Japan. As you might have guessed, the game will allow players to build their own deck comprising of iconic Final Fantasy characters and take on other players in PvP mode.
Each Final Fantasy games is designed to last for as long as 12 turns, but that's about all we know about gameplay. Also, if you think it looks ugly, it's because the developers have decided to use a 16-bit design for characters and summons.
Apparently, Final Fantasy Digital Card Game will be launched on the Yahoo! Japan Game Plus platform in 2019, but we hope Square Enix will bring it to other territories as well. We believe we'll have more info on the card game closer to launch, so stick around for more details on this one.
