Facebook's Snapchat-esque Slingshot launches on the Apple App Store
Recently, we told you about Facebook's Slingshot app. Similar to Snapchat, Slingshot allows you to send a video or a photo with a caption, and have it self-destruct just seconds after it is read. Earlier this month, Facebook accidentally put the Slingshot app up on the Apple App Store, only to quickly take it down.
As we pointed out in our previous story about the app, there is a difference between Slingshot and Snapchat. With the former, if you want to view a message sent to you, you need to send off a reply first. Or, as Facebook puts it, if someone wants to read your shot, they will have to sling something to you first. Tap on a message to read it, or swipe it away. If you want to keep a reminder of a Slingshot-sent message, a screenshot will do the job.

Slingshot is a free download from the App Store, and requires iOS 7.0 or higher. For those looking for a fresh take on the Mission Impossible self-destructing messaging app niche, you might want to check out Slingshot. The app allows you to customize your missives before sending them out, by using your finger to draw all over them.
