Facebook stickers from Pixar artist rolling out now
A while back, we heard that Facebook was working with an artist from Pixar to create a new set of emoticons that were intended to convey a much wider range of emotion than a standard set of emoticons. It turns out that was slightly off, and rather than emoticons, the items in question are stickers (which are essentially the same, but bigger and sometimes animated). Now, those new subtle-emotion stickers are rolling out to users.
Illustrator Matt Jones is the Pixar artist behind the new stickers, and from what we're seeing on early leaks, they look quite good. Stickers are a new addition to Facebook and are currently only available in the main Facebook app for iOS and the Messenger app for Android. As of this writing, the new pack hadn't rolled out to us, but when it does it will be listed in Facebook's Sticker store under the name "Finch".
Basically all of the Sticker packs available right now have a very Japanese-y/anime style to them, so it should be interesting to see a different style than those. Facebook has said that Sticker packs will be expanding to Messenger for iOS and the main Facebook app on Android soon.
