FCC welcomes Acer's beTouch E130
Not all of the handsets that seek the green light from the FCC are the high-end, super spec'd phones with the 1GHz processor and the greater than 4 inch display. The low-end, entry level models also have to get approval from the Feds. Case in point, the Acer beTouch E130. Underneath the 2.6 inch QVGA touchscreen sits a physical QWERTY keyboard. The model comes with Android 1.6 out of the box, not exactly the 2.1 build of the open source OS that the hot models are parading around with. And the 416MHz processor is barely more than a third of the speed of the 1GHz chip that the higher-end devices all have under the hood. Other features include the 3.2 MP camera, 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM, and support for Wi-Fi. No word yet on which carrier might pick up this handset.
