Ex-Windows Phone general manager goes to Amazon to build something 'totally new'
It looks like Amazon might be secretly planning to build a smartphone after all. It has become clear that the company which brought you the Kindle Fire has recruited former Windows Phone general manager Charlie Kindel. Could the similarity between names of Amazon's hardware line the surname of Mr. Kindel be a coincidence, or does it mean something more? We don't know, but the interesting thing here is that Mr. Kindel has updated his LinkedIn profile to let us know that he's working on creating a new team of developers and testers who will be "going after a totally new area for Amazon."
You know what this means, folks, they are building a phone! OK, OK, let's not jump to conclusions yet, though Kindel had a pretty similar role when he was in the Windows Phone team - he worked with app developers to ensure they have "Do Windows Phone port!" in their to-do lists. Naturally, with all the talk about Amazon working on a Kindle phone, it's quite normal for everyone to think that Charlie Kindel is going there to help with this very undertaking.
