European Samsung Galaxy S owners will see a Froyo update on September 23rd?
Well on its way to becoming one of the most successful Android handsets this year, the Samsung Galaxy S is still sitting pretty at Android 2.1 while some of its other high-end counterparts are making or in the process of receiving the full tasting of Android 2.2 Froyo. So far, all fingers pointed to the month of September for the roll out of Android 2.2 for the European version of the Samsung Galaxy S, but now it can somewhat be pin pointed down to September 23rd.
The news comes from Finland where Samsung's repairs department over there stated, “definitely receiving new software for repairing Froyo builds on the 22nd of September, with the build expected to be released on the 23rd.” This should be taken as good news for those who resisted in installing various leaked Froyo builds for the handset – so the next 9 days should pose to be no problem. However, it would only be fitting to suspect that carrier specific roll outs may happen at different times, but at least it looks as though the Froyo madness will commence this month.
