Essential Phone will get two more magnetic accessories

The Essential Phone reviews are in and the consensus is that the handset is surprisingly well built and has an unmistakable premium feel. It also ships with an optional bundle with a 360-degree 4K camera that cleverly snaps to the phone via magnetic pins.

But did you know that Essential itself plans to make six such magnetic accessories and it has already revealed the next two that are under development: the first one is a gadget that can output high quality audio from the phone to a car stereo wirelessly, and the second one is what Andy Rubin, Essential founder, calls the world's smallest 3D laser scanner. The two new accessories were revealed in an interview with Rubin for Bloomberg.

It's not yet clear how you would use such a laser accessory, but Rubin has hinted it might have something to do with how self-driving cars use lasers to measure distance between objects.

Currently, Essential is already developing an inductive, wireless charging dock as an additional accessory, while the other two are in earlier development phases.

The Essential Phone is now available for pre-order via Best Buy and Sprint is the exclusive carrier for the phone in the United States.
