Disney has just announced Disney Movies Anywhere, a new iOS app that will allow users to select a Disney, Pixar or Marvel movie, and have it streamed to their iOS device for immediate viewing. The films can also be stored on an iOS device for later offline use. Purchased movies can be viewed over multiple devices and digital copies of Disney movies can also be played using the app. Currently, there is a library of 420 Disney films to choose from, with each one costing $19.99.
As you might expect from the media giant, Disney has thought of just about everything. Parental controls allow Mom and Dad to restrict the movies allowed to be viewed on a specific device. For example, while the parents can watch the rare "R" rated Disney classic on their Apple iPad Air, Junior could be limited to viewing "G" rated fare on his Apple iPhone 5s.
The app itself is a free download, and those who link their iTunes account with the app and sync eligible movies from their personal library, will receive a free copy of "The Incredibles".
