Cyanogen 13.1 brings new 'Mod' features to the OnePlus One

OnePlus One owners are currently in the process of receiving the update to Cyanogen 13.1. The update includes a number of Microsoft based Mods. For example, with the update Skype calls can start directly from the Cyanogen phone app. If you are in a call with a person using an Android or Cyanogen powered device, you can quickly and easily switch from a cellular voice call to a Skype video call. You can even add more Skype credit to your account directly from Cyanogen's phone app. From the Cyanogen contact card, you can search for a contact and call him/her.

The Cortana Mod will now allow you to ask Cortana to snap a selfie which results in an automatic countdown giving you time to prepare for the picture. And Cortana can now be accessed from the lock screen. This allows you to have the virtual assistant help you set alarms, reminders, search and more by waking your device and swiping to the left. Sorry, Cortana is available only for those in the U.S.

You can now create time-lapse video using the Microsoft Hyperlapse Mod for Camera. Filming time-lapse video is as easy as 1-2-3. One, open the camera app; two, switch to Hyperlase mode, and three, begin filming. This will also work with existing videos on your device. And with the update to Cyanogen 13.1, OneNote Mods work from the email and phone apps to help you stay organized. And while not a Microsoft feature, the update allows Twitter users to see updates right on the lock screen.

Mods are available on Cyanogen 13 and higher and "are your favorite features right where you expect them." For example, features for your camera are found in the camera app (which is where you'd expect them to be). For more information about Mods, click on the video at the top of this story.
