C'ya later: Analyst says evidence of Apple iPhone 6c in the supply chain is gone
Rumors of a metal-clad 4-inch Apple iPhone 6c are everywhere. Just yesterday, we showed you an image of a battery that was allegedly earmarked for the model. The 1715mAh juicer would have a 14% higher capacity than the cell employed by the Apple iPhone 5c. In May, there was talk that Apple was monopolizing the purchases of Sony sensors for the iPhone 6c's rear camera. And as far back as March, rear covers for the device starting showing up.
But on Monday, one of the analysts behind the rumors had made a 180 degree change. Cowen & Company's Timothy Arcuri originally spotted some of the clues in the supply chain that pointed to the existence of the iPhone 6c. But now, Arcuri says that these clues can no longer can be found in the supply chain.
The analyst comes to the conclusion that Apple decided to put the kibosh on bringing back a 4-inch handset, fearing that it would eat into sales of its current models. Arcuri had earlier believed that Apple could release an iPhone 6c instead of releasing the widely expected Apple iPhone 6s and Apple iPhone 6s Plus.
Apple iPhone fans who long for the days of the 4-inch screen might be able to celebrate next year. Back in April, we told you that Au Optronics had received an order from Apple for a 4-inch front panel that would be delivered in 2016.

"I think one of the reasons (Apple reportedly canceled an iPhone 6c) is because the iPhone 6 has sold so well. And they said, 'Look, why would we want to cannibalize? If we came out with an iPhone 6C, we would essentially cannibalize a price-reduced iPhone 6.'"-Timothy Arcuri, analyst, Cowen & Company
