Cingular launches 3G video service with exclusive content
Cingular Wireless has announced the upcoming launch of its on-demand streaming video service - Cingular Video. The new service uses the power of Cingular's UMTS UMTS/HSDPA network, which was launched in 15 markets last week and which for the time being is available only for laptop users through a PC card. Cingular Video will be accessible for users with 3G handsets, and the company plans to introduce such devices in the beginning of next year. The video service will give consumers access to current video content, including news, sports, weather and entertainment clips. Moreover, users will be provided with ringtones, graphics, messaging, and games. Cingular has also partnered with HBO Mobile group in order to offer exclusive content, including select episodes, clips of unforgettable scenes and bonus material from award-winning HBO shows, cartoons, comedy and sports. Cingular's streaming video service is expected to be available early next year. Meanwhile, access to HBO downloadable content, such as messaging, graphic, game, and ringtone content is provided.
