Casio debuts Pro Trek WSD-F21HR rugged smartwatch with heart rate monitor
The new rugged smartwatch from Casio is part of the company's Pro Trek series. Dubbed WSD-F21HR, the smartwatch is powered by Google's Wear OS and features some smart functions like a heart rate monitor/optical sensor.

As far as the price goes, Casio announced the Pro Trek WSD-F21HR will soon be available for purchase in the United States for around $500. The smartwatch will come in black and red colors and you'll be able to pick it up from “select jewelry and watch retailers” across the country.

Unlike many of its other smartwatches, the Pro Trek WSD-F21HR features a 1.32-inch dual-layer display, which includes a large color LCD and a monochrome LCD. Users will be able to switch between the two to get more battery life at any time of the day.

The monochrome LCD will display both time and various measurements. It will consume a very small amount of power and it's easy to read even outdoors, such as directly under the sun. On the other hand, the color LCD shows detailed info such as maps, sensor readings, and various notifications in a colorful, high-definition display.

Casio Pro Trek WSD-F21HR features built-in GPS and an advanced optical sensor that measures users' heart rates by flashing an LED light onto the wrist. All the information received from the heart rate sensor is displayed on a special watch face that's only available on this smartwatch.

Also, since this is a Wear OS-powered smartwatch, you'll get access to a wide array of Google apps and services. For example, you can connect activity history to Google Calendar or you save GPS tracked data to Google Drive.
