You can snag an unlocked Essential Phone for $280 from Amazon
Last month during Amazon Prime Day, the unlocked Essential Phone was available for $250. Since then, we've seen Essential sell the handset for $399 with $107 worth of accessories (including the 360 modular camera) tossed in. If you've been waiting for the $250 price to reappear though, Amazon's latest deal on the device might be as close as you get for some time. Amazon is selling the unlocked Essential Phone in Halo Gray for $279.99.

There are things to like about the Essential Phone, including the edge-to-edge 5.7-inch display, the quick updates (the handset has been updated to Android 9.0 Pie), and the 128GB of native storage. Not every one will be enamored with the dual camera setup on back, and the 3,040mAh battery seems light for a flagship model these days. With an IP54 certification rating, the unit cannot be submerged like those other phones with IP67 or IP68 ratings. The Essential Phone will survive a minor splash.

Amazon says that the deal cuts 44% or $220 off its usual full price of $499.99. And if you sign up for the Amazon Rewards Visa Card and get approved, Amazon will take another $50 off the unit. That would drop the cost of the Essential Phone to $229.99.
