BlackBerry registers AndroidSecured.com - BlackBerry Android phones incoming?
Last month, BlackBerry CEO John Chen talked about Android smartphones, saying that his company would launch one only if it would manage to make it "secure enough." Fast forward to today, when we found out that BlackBerry recently registered the AndroidSecured.com and AndroidSecured.net domain names.
The new domain names were registered via corporate domain name registrar MarkMonitor, but, as the screenshot seen below is showing, they actually belong to BlackBerry Limited. This obviously makes us think that BlackBerry can, and will make secure Android smartphones, though for now the company isn't confirming anything.
It's said that BlackBerry is readying two Android smartphones for later this year. The first one, codenamed BlackBerry Prague and expected to be launched as soon as August, should be an entry-level model in the style of the BlackBerry Z3. The second BlackBerry Android smartphone, codenamed Venice, should be a high-end one, offering features like a Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display, a Snapdragon 808 processor, 3 GB of RAM, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The BlackBerry Venice (allegedly seen in the renders below) might be released this November.
It looks like smartphone users like the idea of Android-powered BlackBerry handsets. Now it's up to the Canadian company to deliver attractive devices.
