BlackBerry Tour takes off this July on Verizon?
BGR was told by a little Verizon bird that the BlackBerry Tour would be available this July through Verizon. The device, also known as the BlackBerry 9630, is expected to be equipped with the newest 'Berry OS, a QWERTY keyboard, 3G connectivity, a 3.2MP camera, and an improved browser. The preliminary specs reveal a lack of a Wi-Fi radio on the device, which was originally known as the Niagara until reports surfaced about a possible name change. A price of $199 on a two year contract seems credible. While not a touch-phone, the Tour improves on things that owners of the Storm have complained about. The QWERTY keyboard might be seen as a step up over the touchscreen model's SurePress virtual QWERTY, and having the trackball back is something that long term 'Berry fans wanted to see after having problems navigating with RIM's first touchscreen device. Throw in newer OS build plus browser and this may well turn out to be a real Magical Mystery Tour for all BlackBerry fans.
