On Sunday, we told you that the BlackBerry Motion was unveiled in Dubai. While there is no physical keyboard on this "all touch" model, the Motion brings some new features to a BlackBerry handset for the first time. For example, this is the first 'Berry to come equipped with a huge 4000mAh battery. It also is the first BlackBerry to carry an IP certification rating. At IP67, the handset can be submerged into a bowl of water up to 3.2 feet deep, for as long as 30-minutes, and escape unscathed.
You can now pre-order the BlackBerry Motion in the UAE and Saudi Arabia
The phone will launch first in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Those pre-ordering the BlackBerry Motion starting today through Axiom Telecom, will have their phone shipped beginning on October 22nd. The BlackBerry Motion will be priced at Dh1,699 in the UAE, and 1,699 Riyal in Saudi Arabia. In U.S. currency, this is equivalent to approximately $463 USD. Select global markets will receive the Motion later this month.
The BlackBerry Motion comes with a virtual Locker where you can securely store photos and documents. Opening the Locker will require a PIN code or a fingerprint match. The fingerprint scanner is embedded in the home button on the front of the handset, and the phone will come with Android 7.1 Nougat pre-installed. The update to Android 8.0 Oreo will arrive sometime next year.
The BlackBerry Motion features a 5.5-inch display carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution (FHD). The Snapdragon 625 chipset is under the hood with an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 506 GPU. 4GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of native storage. A 12MP camera adorns the back of the phone, and the device supports dual-SIM cards.
