BlackBerry 6 limited to Torch, Pearl 3G and Bold models 9650, 9700
While BlackBerry introduced its new OS yesterday, those of you with older handsets-even the Bold 9000-will apparently be shut out from getting an upgrade. According to RIM's co-CEO Mike Laziridis, the only BlackBerry handsets expected to run the new BlackBerry 6 OS include the Torch 9800 which will be launched August 12th, as we reported yesterday, the Pearl 3G which has yet to be picked up by a U.S. carrier, and the Bold 9650 and 9700 models. No date has been announced for the upgrade. Although not yet introduced by RIM, it is also expected that the Bold 9780 will include the new OS. Recently, we reported about a video that showed the refreshed version of the Bold using BlackBerry 6.
