BlackBerry 10.3.3 update is causing problems for BlackBerry 10 handsets

38comments
Starting last November, BlackBerry rolled out OS version 10.3.3 for its BlackBerry 10 series of handsets. While the company turned to Android for its newer models like the BlackBerry Priv, DTEK50, DTEK60 and the upcoming BlackBerry KEYone, there are still a number of BlackBerry 10 handsets that receive updates. A BlackBerry Knowledge Issue article pertaining to the version 10.3.3 update lists a number of problems with the software build:

  • Slow/poor performance
  • Menu items missing or slow to respond
  • Device temperature warmer than usual
  • Applications not opening
  • Unable to connect to wireless networks

As we said, BlackBerry is investigating the matter. The company does offer one workaround; if the issues persist for longer than 24 hours after the new build was initially installed, BlackBerry suggests that you should reload the software on the phone. First, though, BlackBerry wants you to wait for 24 hours to give the update a chance to settle in.

There are those who swear that BlackBerry 10 is the best mobile OS around, and there are those who would give up a lung or a testicle to own an Android powered BlackBerry Passport. BlackBerry has said that it will continue to support the platform. If you own a BlackBerry 10 phone, you are not yet orphaned.

As for BlackBerry 10.3.3, we will continue to monitor the situation and inform you when a fix is sent out.
