Black Ceramic version of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 goes on sale

The all ceramic version of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 won't scratch as much as the standard model, which features an aluminum frame (and some ceramic as well). It also has just the right amount of heft to it. A version of the all ceramic Mi Mix 2 in white was released last month, and today the same model in black is being offered in China, priced at ¥4699. That is equivalent to $702 USD at current exchange rates.

While the original Mi Mix was more of a proof of concept, it did kick off the current so-called bezel-less phone era that has spawned handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S8, the Essential Phone and the Apple iPhone X among others. The Mi Mix 2 is considered to be a regular mass production model, carrying a 6-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160, and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Under the hood you'll find the Snapdragon 835 chipset with an octa-core 2.45GHz CPU, and the Adreno 540 GPU. The all-ceramic models, both white and black, come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage.

The back of the device is adorned with a 12MP camera, while the front-facing 5MP snapper handles selfies and video chats. Keeping the lights on is a 3400mAh battery, and Android Nougat is pre-installed with Xiaomi's MIUI Android skin running on top.

With Xiaomi offering the Mi Mix 2 in Western Europe and expanding its reach to that region for the first time, there is hope that the company is getting closer to a long awaited debut in the United States.
