Bionic Eye is an iPhone app for augmented reality
The application for augmented reality, called Bionic Eye, is available on the App Store now. It utilizes the built-in camera of your handset to provide you with a slightly different view on the world around you that, no matter where you are, happens to be full of interesting places (about 10,000 in the US alone). On screen icons show you the distance to the particular place you have chosen and information gets updated in real time, meaning the relative distance changes even if you take just a few steps, so you always have an accurate estimate of how long it is going to take to get to a particular place of interest. A blue, compass-like arrow will show you the way to the destination if you rotate the phone with the camera facing the ground. The price of Bionic Eye is $0.99 and the app can only be used in the US, UK, France and Tokyo, Japan at the moment, but the company promises to expand the list of supported countries soon.
