Phones with best battery life in 2025: Independent test results
Looking for a phone that won't let you down when it comes to battery life? We've got you covered.
At PhoneArena, we are independently testing the battery life of each smartphone we review.
So which are the phones with the best battery life? Below, you can find the top performers, along with key details about their endurance.
Notice: How you use your phone affects how long its battery lasts. Some phones are great for watching videos, but might run out of power quickly if you play games. Others are good for checking emails and websites, but might not last long if you do a lot of other things. Consider how you'll use your phone before you choose one.

Flagship phones with the best battery life at a glance:
1. Oppo Find X8 Ultra

Despite its slim and elegant design, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra packs a massive 6,100 mAh silicon-carbon battery, putting it ahead of most flagships in sheer capacity. That’s on par with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and OnePlus 13, and significantly larger than the 5,000 mAh battery inside the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
We’ve been fans of the new silicon-carbon battery wave, and Oppo’s implementation shows exactly why. The Find X8 Ultra performs exceptionally in our tests, averaging nearly nine hours of total battery life, which is an excellent result even for modern flagship standards.
The Find X8's best score was in our web browsing test, where it reached almost 24 hours of runtime (one of the best we’ve ever seen). It also delivered over 11 hours of video playback and nearly 13 hours of gaming, beating several rivals across the board.

2. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

The Galaxy S25 Ultra keeps the same 5,000 mAh battery capacity as its predecessor, but thanks to the power-efficient Snapdragon 8 Elite chip built on a 3nm process, it manages to squeeze out a bit more battery life.
In our testing, the S25 Ultra achieved an 8-hour overall battery life estimate, with more than 20 hours of web browsing, around 9 hours of video playback, and an impressive 14 hours of gaming. These are some solid results for a phone with a 5,000 mAh battery.

3. Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max

The iPhone 17 Pro Max finally breaks the 5,000 mAh barrier. Well, at least in the U.S., where the eSIM model packs a 5,088 mAh battery. The global version uses a slightly smaller 4,832 mAh battery capacity, but still offers solid battery life.
In our testing (we tested the global version), the iPhone 17 Pro Max got a 7 hour 46 minutes overall battery life estimate. It managed over 20 hours of browsing, 9.5 hours of video playback, and 11.5 hours in our Gaming test. That’s a small step down from last year’s iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is likely due to the increased power draw of the new processor.
In real-world use, the phone comfortably lasts a full day and often stretches into a day and a half with moderate use.

4. Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus

The Galaxy S25 Plus keeps the same 4,900 mAh battery that came with its predecessor, and while that may sound like a missed opportunity, the results we got during our battery tests were better.
In our lab tests, the S25 Plus managed a 7-hour 36-minute overall battery estimate, which is just under the Ultra. It lasted over 19 hours of browsing, nearly 9 hours of video playback, and 13.5 hours of gaming.
For typical day-to-day use, the S25 Plus easily lasts through a full day and into the next morning.

5. OnePlus 13

Battery life and charging have long been OnePlus’ strongest weapons, and the OnePlus 13 definitely lives up to that legacy. Inside its slim 8.5 mm frame, the phone houses a massive 6,000 mAh battery.
In our lab tests, the OnePlus 13 achieved a 7-hour 30-minute overall battery life estimate, which is very solid considering its 165 Hz display and performance-oriented tuning of the chip. It excelled in web browsing with over 21 hours and 30 minutes, while video playback lasted around 9 hours and 12 minutes. The gaming result came in at 8 hours and 12 minutes.

Affordable phones with the best battery life:
Among all affordable phones we’ve tested so far in 2025, the Motorola Moto G (2025) currently holds the crown for battery life. It tops the chart with an impressive 8 hours and 15 minutes, excelling in web browsing with more than 22 hours of runtime.
Right behind it is the Google Pixel 9a, which nearly matches the Moto G with 8 hours and 11 minutes overall, and even beats it in our gaming battery test with over 12 hours.
Third place now belongs to the Nothing CMF Phone 2 Pro, scoring 7 hours and 55 minutes. While its browsing time is shorter than the leaders, it makes up for it with the longest video playback we’ve seen in this segment — over 13 hours!
The Nothing Phone (3a) also deserves mention with 7 hours and 38 minutes overall and a strong balance across browsing, video, and gaming. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13R leverages its 6,000 mAh battery to deliver nearly 19 hours of browsing, though its battery life during our gaming test is more modest compared to the top performers.

How we measure battery life
The PhoneArena Battery Score provides a comprehensive overview of a smartphone's battery performance, including:
- Overall Battery Score: A single number that represents the device's overall battery efficiency.
- Battery Life Estimate: A projected estimate of how long the battery will last under typical usage conditions.
- Detailed Test Results: Breakdown of performance in web browsing, video streaming, and 3D gaming.
- Charging Speed: Information on both wired and wireless charging speeds.
- Rank Comparison: How the device compares to other smartphones tested.
How the PhoneArena Battery Score is Calculated
Our battery tests are conducted under controlled conditions to ensure accurate and consistent results. We evaluate performance in three key areas:
- Web Browsing: A script cycles through a set of webpages, simulating typical browsing behavior.
- Video Streaming: Full-screen video is streamed to assess battery life during media consumption.
- 3D Gaming: A demanding 3D game is played to test the battery's ability to handle intensive tasks.
All tests are performed at a standardized brightness level (determined via a specialized light meter) and over a Wi-Fi connection.
This allows us to provide a straightforward assessment of battery performance, detailed test results and charging information to offer a complete picture, as well as rankings and average scores that allow for easy comparison with other devices.
If you want more detailed information on how we perform our tests, you can check out our PhoneArena Battery Score article. You can also check our new rating system to learn about our full process when giving a phone its overall evaluation.
