Bell offers OS 4.7.0.122 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530
Last week, Canadian carrier Bell was offering owners of the BlackBerry Storm 9530, a chance to upgrade the OS in the device to 4.7.0.122. The problem was that the networker did not include an installer with the software. As a result, those wishing to download the software had to use their PC and RIM's Desktop Manager. Bell has now put version .122 up on its web site so anyone with a 9530 can now add the new OS build to their device with fewer steps and greater ease. While technically this is not one of the leaked OS upgrades that have been coming out almost every week, it is an official release for Bell customers which means that Verizon Wireless Storm users need to take the same cautions they would when downloading a leaked copy. We last reported that Big Red was a couple of weeks away from sending out an OTA upgrade with the build most likely to be .113. Owners of its version of RIM's first touchscreen handset have slowly been losing patience as they continue to wait for the full QWERTY in portrait mode and the more precise cut and paste function, among other changes. The ball is in Verizon's court and hopefully they won't drop it.
