BBM might go "beyond handsets and the phone", BlackBerry CEO John Chen admits
Yesterday, Canadian smartphone manufacturer BlackBerry announced two new devices and a new version of BES. In addition, the CEO of BlackBerry also hinted that BlackBerry's popular messenger, BBM, might also arrive on dekstop platforms. When asked about his thoughts about the recent purchase of WhatsApp by Facebook, Chen stated that the BBM messenger is bound to go "beyond handsets and the phone".

BlackBerry already stated that it's going to release a Windows Phone version of BBM sometime this summer. If we take into consideration that the Windows Phone platform and the Windows OS have a big number of common libraries and resources, it will be relatively easy for the Canadian company to develop a desktop version of the messenger.
