BBM for Windows Phone already gets an update to fix a bug
Just the other day, BlackBerry took the "beta" label off of BBM for Windows Phone, and allowed version 1.01 to be available to those using a handset powered by Microsoft's mobile OS. That was Saturday. Now, an update to version 1.01.28 has been released by the manufacturer, to fix a bug that affected the acceptance of SMS invitations.
The speed with which BlackBerry has already taken care of this bug shows you how important the messaging app is to CEO John Chen's plans to revive BlackBerry. Besides offering a business-centric flagship model like the (still unannounced) BlackBerry Passport, Chen has big plans for BBM and BES 12. The latter allows a company to take care of a fleet of handsets regardless if they run BlackBerry, iOS, Android or Windows Phones. The former is seen by the executive as a crown jewel that becomes more valuable by the day as more and more subscribers sign up, regardless of what platform they are using.
