Asus was tipped to unveil the ZenFone 4 series back in May, but it looks like the company missed its own deadline. What's worse is the smartphones won't be announced this month either, as a new report claims the ZenFone 4 series will be revealed in July.

According to the company's CEO Jerry Shen, the highly-anticipated ZenFone 4 series will be introduced at the end of July. Asus decided to delay the launch of the smartphones by three months in order to improve their specs sheets and make some significant design changes.

The first ZenFone 4 smartphones launched by Asus will pack a 5.5-inch display, and it would be priced at around $500. Later on, new variants with different sizes will be released on the market, but details about their specs are scarce at the moment.

Asus hopes to start making a profit in the third quarter, as the company's smartphone business has suffered net operating losses in the first half of the year.

On a side note, Asus plans to announce its ZenFone 5 line-up next year at Mobile World Congress MWC), the company's CEO confirmed. In the meantime, the next major launch coming from Asus is the ZenFone AR, the Google Tango smartphone that will make its debut in Taiwan on June 14.
