Asus cutting back on the bloatware, plans to update ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 4 to Android "O"
Earlier this morning, we told you about the six new models unveiled by Asus for its ZenFone 4 series. But there is more information to discuss about Asus. For example, at the event today, the manufacturer promised that the entire ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 4 line will be updated to Android O. And where Android O goes, so goes ZenUI 4.0, which will be running on top of the next Android build.
Asus also plans on cutting back on bloatware, something that smartphone buyers the world over will be happy to see. From the 35 pre-installed apps found on ZenUI 3.5, ZenUI 4.0 will have just 13 pre-installed apps. That works out to a 63% drop in bloatware on the latest Asus UI.
ZenUI 4.0 will also contain some new features such as Twin Apps (two social media accounts on one device) and bookmarking app Page Marker. The big new feature that everyone is excited to see with Android O is "picture-in-picture," which allows you to watch videos in a floating window. Asus says that by the second half of 2018 it will have updated all of its Android O enabled models to the new Android build.
