While Asus already announced several new smartphones this year (including the interesting ZenFone AR and ZenFone 3 Zoom - pictured on the left), none are part of the ZenFone 4 series, which is bound to succeed the ZenFone 3 family.
Nevertheless, a ZenFone 4 series is expected to be announced soon, possibly in July.
According to a list of Google Play supported devices (accessible via the first source link below), there are no less than five ZenFone 4 models in the making - which isn't surprising, as Asus is known for releasing multiple handsets as part of a single family. The new phones are: Asus ZenFone 4 (model number ZE554KL), Asus ZenFone 4 Max (model number ZC554KL), Asus ZenFone 4 Pro (model number Z01GD), Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie (model number Z01M), and Asus ZenFone 4V (model number V520KL/A006).
A previous rumor had it that the ZenFone 4 Max would feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 630 (or 660) processor, and a large battery, possibly of at least 4,000 mAh. The Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie should also offer a 5.5-inch 1080p display and a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, plus a 12 MP front-facing camera with 4K video recording - a rarity.
Details about the other upcoming Asus phones are currently missing, but we're assuming that all will run Android Nougat out of the box, and the ZenFone 4 Pro will be a high-end model. Of course, we'll have to wait and see if we're right.
