US-bound Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom won't have upgraded specs after all
Not long ago, Asus North America said that the ZenFone 3 Zoom would be released in the US sometime in the second quarter of the year, coming with "better specs" compared to the international version. Unfortunately, the company had to retract the latter part: the smartphone that's bound to hit shelves across the US won't really have upgraded specs, so it's going to be identical to the ZenFone 3 Zoom that can be purchased in other markets.
The ZenFone 3 Zoom is still scheduled to arrive stateside this quarter (April - June), but Asus didn't reveal an exact release date for it. While we do know that the handset should be sold for $399 unlocked, it's not clear if this is the price for the 32 GB variant, the 64 GB one, or the more generous 128 GB one.
Sporting a 5.5-inch 1080p display and a metal body, the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom features a dual 12 MP rear camera with 2.3x optical zoom and Dual Pixel autofocus, likely allowing users to take high quality photos. The phone also offers LTE, a large 5000 mAh battery, 4 GB of RAM, an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, and Android Marshmallow (upgradeable to Android 7 Nougat).
