Assassin's Creed: Identity features mind-blowing graphics, out for Android and iOS next year
Wow! It looks like we were sleeping under a rock, because we're seeing the new Assassin's Creed mobile game - Identity - for the first time, and it blew us away! This is an actual AC title, complete with the gorgeous graphics, sword fights, and old-timey parkour we know from its PC and console incarnations. It's merely scaled down so its content can fit into the typical free to play format. And besides, the time for 14GB or so video game downloads on smartphones is still far off.
Anyway, Assassin's Creed: Identity puts your protagonist in an Italian setting that features smaller levels instead of full-blown cities, and short quests in the place of epic assassination missions. Make no mistake, though, no AC mobile game of such authentic proportions has been available until now. In addition to all the running and gunning you'll be doing, the game introduces new types of assassins to the club, such as the Shadowblade and the Berserker. And the graphics quality is another story! Identity is powered by the Unity engine and features high-definition textures, shaders and models based on content from the original console games. There's also a crowd system, dynamic weather, and dynamic lighting. Finally, we're seeing what those quad-core CPUs of ours can really pull off!
Currenttly, Assassin's Creed: Identity is on a "soft launch" (small-scale pre-release) in the Australia and New Zealand Apple App Store. However, the game will be out worldwide for Android and iOS devices (iPad 3 and later, or iPhone 5 and later).
