Apple's website now shows October delivery for Apple iPhone 5s
We've already known that the Apple iPhone 5s has suffered from lower production yields than Apple would have wanted. Friday morning at 3am EDT, Apple started selling the phone on its website with delivery times listed at just 1 to 3 business days. Now, those ordering any iPhone 5s model from the subsidized handsets to the SIM free units, will have to wait until October to receive their new iPhone 5s.
Regardless of the color you want or the amount of storage capacity, the earliest that Apple will have the device in your hands is next month. We do have to point out that the website just says "October" which means there is a wide 31 day range. A delivery date late next month obviously requires more patience than an expected early October delivery date.
Most analysts, including Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster, expect Apple to sell 6 million units during the launch weekend. That includes sales of both the full-featured Apple iPhone 5s and the mid-range Apple iPhone 5c. Last year, Apple sold 5 million units of the Apple iPhone 5 during the launch weekend, although that number failed to meet expectations.
The Apple iPhone 5c lead times have actually dropped in 5 of the 9 countries where it is offered to 24 hours from 1 to 3 business days. Not only does Apple seem to have plenty of inventory, but many potential buyers of the device want to check out the polycarbonate shell in person before they buy the model.
