Apple outs the iPad Air 2 official promo video, laser cuts pencil
Apple's design team outdid itself with the new iPad Air 2, making it the thinnest (but not lightest) slate in the category. How did it achieve the incredible 6.1mm thickness of the premium aluminum unibody? Well, it moved things around, ditching the physical mute/rotation switch altogether. The volume buttons are now also slightly sloping towards the back of the tablet, taking less vertical space.
The crafty engineers also made gapless the 9.7" Retina Display, merging the LCD at the bottom, touch sensor in the middle, and the protective glass at the top together, which not only diminished the screen package thickness, but also reduced reflection to a great extent. Add to these the top-shelf reflectivity coating, which makes the Air 2 the tablet with best outdoor visibility, and the powerful 64-bit new A8X chipset, as well as the record number of LTE bands support, and the iPad Air 2 is made indeed into a sight to behold. Apple also thinks so, it seems, as it outed the first iPad Air 2 promo, comparing it with... a pencil, of all things. Check it out below.
