Apple iPhone 6 Plus is sold out; phablet will ship in 3 to 4 weeks
Looks like there has been quite a pent-up demand for a phablet-sized iPhone. The 5.5 inch Apple iPhone 6 Plus is now sold out and is on back order for 3 to 4 weeks, according to Apple's web site. On the other hand, there seems to be plenty of the 4.7 inch Apple iPhone 6 to go around. Those pre-ordering that model now, will have their handset shipped on the original September 19th launch date. Both models are also expected to be available in stores starting next Friday. Considering the demand for the iPhone 6 Plus online, it might be very hard to find in brick and mortar stores next week.
The Apple iPhone 6 is priced on contract at $199 for 16GB, $299 for 64GB and $399 for 128GB. Apple removed the 32GB tier this year, replacing it with a 128GB option. The Apple iPhone 6 Plus starts at $299 on contract for 16GB and costs $399 and $499 for 64GB and 128GB, respectively. Both models are available in Gold, Silver and Space Gray. Apple says that by the end of the year, the two phones will be available in 150 markets.

The Apple iPhone remains the company's most important product. The handset accounted for half of Apple's $171 billion in revenue last year. Apple also will start shipping the Apple Watch early in 2015. With tablet sales beginning to slump, Apple is hoping that its new timepiece more than makes up for any drop off in iPad sales.
