Apple iPhone 5s production yields are said to be low
It might be more difficult obtaining an Apple iPhone 5s next week than originally thought. According to Jefferies analyst Peter Misek, production yields for the new full-priced iPhone are low thanks to problems with the fingerprint scanner. This mirrors a report from back in July that pointed to the problems producing some of the chips for the biometrics tool in calling for a delay in the initial production of the model.

Misek's analysis was included in his report to clients, and the analyst now predicts that 5 million to 10 million units of the new iPhone flagship model will be built this quarter. That compares with his expectations for 20 million Apple iPhone 5C units to be produced in Q3 along with 5 million to 8 million Apple iPhone 4s models. For the fourth quarter Misek calls for 20 million to 25 million iPhone 5s units to be built along with 30 million iPhone 5c units and 3 to 5 million Apple iPhone 4s handsets.

Misek cut his 2014 iPhone shipment figure to 147 million units from an earlier 162 million. As a result, the analyst cut his earnings per share forecast for 2014 from $38.78 to $37.95.He also reiterated his "hold" rating on Apple's stock and cut the target from $450 to $425. And while we're sure Misek is a nice guy we do need to point out his god-awful call on BlackBerry. He had a "Buy" rating on the stock back in April when the stock was 50% higher.
